What is your advising philosophy?
My advising philosophy is centered on teamwork, determination, and empowering you to take charge of your journey. We work closely together to understand and address challenges, taking the time to grasp their roots and devise effective strategies. Patience is integral to my approach, as I believe in giving you the space to develop and consider all options. I serve as a guide and supporter, offering advice and insights from a place of understanding and shared experience.
While I won't make decisions for you, I will provide you with the knowledge needed to make informed choices. Above all, I believe in the potential for change and improvement, no matter the stage of your journey. You can rely on me to be there, encouraging you every step of the way and reminding you that as long as there's time, there's hope. Our journey together is about turning every stumble into a learning opportunity and celebrating every victory as you progress toward your goals.
What was your path to Newnan?
My path to Newnan is deeply rooted in my experience as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where I had a chance to do a little bit of everything, especially since I took a 5th year. Throughout my student years, I had the privilege of working for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, a role I dedicated myself to for the entirety of my five-year journey. This experience was more than just a job; it was foundational, igniting my passion for higher education and shaping my understanding of its transformative power.
After graduation, I sought a path that would integrate my academic insights with my professional experiences. Newnan emerged as the perfect opportunity to apply my knowledge, experiences, and enthusiasm for guiding students through their collegiate paths. It felt like a natural progression, combining my understanding of the Michigan student experience with my skills in higher education, leading me back to the community that had shaped me. My journey to Newnan is not just a career choice; it's a heartfelt continuation of my commitment to this university and its students.
Why did you join Newnan?
I joined Newnan because as a former student I believe my experiences resonate deeply with current students, offering me the unique opportunity to guide them away from the pitfalls I once encountered. My own academic path at Michigan was far from flawless; however, it was through a collaborative partnership with my remarkable advisor that helped me navigate those challenges and emerge stronger. This experience taught me the invaluable impact that patient, dedicated mentorship can have. It's a special kind of mentorship that transcends academic advice and becomes a personal investment in someone's future.
Now, I am eager to bring that same level of heartfelt commitment and supportive guidance to the Newnan community. I aim to be an advisor who doesn't just share wisdom but also listens, cares, and stands with students as they carve out their own narratives of success. It is my hope that by joining Newnan, I can transform the potential setbacks of current Wolverines into their own inspiring stories of personal growth and achievement, just as my advisor did for me.
Class you loved and why?
TO301 - The content and the professor's approach made this course exceptional. It was here that I could bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice.
Additionally, the professor played an important role in this enjoyment. She was very committed to student success, evidenced not just in the way the course was taught, but also in the personal investment made. Our professor went the extra mile to check in on us, to really grasp our individual academic situations and aspirations.
I found myself not just comprehending the concepts but being genuinely excited to delve deeper into each topic. There was something about the way the curriculum was structured, the practical assignments we were given, and the professor's own enthusiasm that made everything click for me. This course didn't feel like just another academic requirement; it felt like a gateway to a larger world of knowledge that I was eager to explore.
