In 1993, Wendy started her company designing jewelry and is the founder of Worn on Purpose, a jewelry company that gives back by supporting charitable organizations. Wendy was the recipient of the UJA-Federation Robert Boas Leadership Award, was a Wexner Heritage Foundation fellow, and received the Woman of Valor award and the Spirit of Peggy Tishman awards from UJA-Federation NY. Presently she is a co-chair of the NY Federation King David Society for the Woman’s Division. Wendy began her career as an analyst at Salomon Brothers and later earned an MBA from Columbia University, majoring in real estate finance, and then became an associate in the real estate finance department. Subsequently she worked at the Georgetown Group, a Manhattan real estate concern focusing on development.
Wendy lives in New York City with her husband Steve (MBA 1983). They have three grown children–Kyle (AB 2011, English and JD from Cordoza), Ricki (AB 2013, Economics, University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Columbia), Michael (AB 2016, Psychology)—a son-in-law, Stuart Tishman, two daughters-in-law, Ashley Talve Shenfeld and Jessy Ramljak Shenfeld, and four grandsons. Wendy attributes her broad skill set to her liberal arts education which has allowed her to pivot in her career and empowers her in her philanthropic endeavors. Wendy enjoys spending time with her grandsons, playing bridge, traveling, skiing, biking, cooking and hosting friends and family.
Working directly with the dean of LSA and the other DAC members enables me to stay connected to the university, be involved in the future decision making for the college and act as an ambassador to alumni, colleagues and friends. As an example, being involved with the conception of the Opportunity Hub and seeing the value created for students by having a physical building and all the programming has been rewarding and positive for me.
