Robert W. Medway is the Managing General Partner of MFLP, which he co-runs with his wife, Laura Medway. Mr. Medway is the co-founder and managing partner of Royal Capital Management, LLC., an institutional investment firm. Royal had offices in New York City, Hong Kong and London, and was a global investor. In 2017, after 19 years of managing institutional capital, Royal Capital converted primarily into a family office. MFLP, the entity that controls Mr. Medway’s family office, invests in a broad class of assets. MFLP has investments in equities, distressed debt, fixed income and real estate. Additionally, it has holdings in alternative assets, including hedge funds, venture capital and private equity.
Mr. Medway has over thirty years of experience in financial services. Prior to founding Royal Capital in 1998, Mr. Medway was a partner at Seneca Capital, worked at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, and in investment and merchant banking at Wasserstein, Perella & Co., Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and Salomon Brothers, Inc.
Mr. Medway graduated with the highest distinction from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma. His two years of a broad liberal arts education at LSA was the foundation of his leadership and scientific training. He also earned an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Medway is on the board of a number of non-profit institutions, including the HBS Alumni Board and the Wall Street Strategic Council of UJA-Federation of New York. Laura B. Medway is also a graduate of U-M. Mr. and Mrs. Medway have three children: Alexandra (Columbia grad), Nicole (Northwestern grad) and Joshua (Duke grad). Laura and Rob reside in Park City, Utah.
