A.B. Economics, 1983Math Teacher
Mary Kay is currently a middle school math teacher and also serves as treasurer of the board of trustees at Miss Hall's School (MA). She holds an M.B.A. in finance from Cornell University and a Masters in Teaching with credentials from the University of San Francisco. Mary Kay has spent the bulk of her professional career in research, analytics and management consulting. Former employers include the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and KPMG’s former National Financial Services Consulting Group in New York City. Mary Kay and her husband, Steve (A.B. ’85), have three grown children and are passionate supporters of scholarships and educational initiatives both domestic and abroad. Mary Kay credits her liberal arts degree to giving her the confidence to explore her passions as a college student, and in life. In her own words: “A Michigan liberal arts student asks great questions, is an astute critical thinker, can flexibly solve problems and knows how to effectively communicate. These skills make multiple career paths possible after college and are necessary for advancement and success in every profession.”
Serving on the DAC has been a meaningful way for me to give back to the University of Michigan and help preserve the liberal arts. My Michigan experience and degree have served me well throughout my life and career. My hope is that my giving, in the form of scholarships and support of the Hub, will have a lasting positive impact on the futures of LSA students.
