The Kelsey Museum hosts several Family Days each year, usually on Saturday mornings in April and May. One of the most popular activities at any Kelsey Family Day is the mummy-making event. Here participants in the April 5 Family Day hone their mummy-making skills by eviscerating dolls that have been stuffed with gummy worms for intestines, a red hot for a heart, walnut lungs, a chocolate-covered raisin liver, and a jelly bean stomach. The mummies are then interred in a special gold-painted shoebox. Another Family Day will be held May 17. Preregistration is required (call 734-647-4167).
