Alexander Zwinak

Alex Zwinak (BA in comparative literature and creative writing, University of Michigan) joined the Kelsey Museum as graduate program coordinator for the Interdepartmental Program in Ancient Mediterranean Art and Archaeology (IPAMAA) in 2004 after two years in administrative and financial management in the U-M Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. He had earlier served as an administrator and business manager at such diverse Ann Arbor organizations as Shaman Drum Bookstore, the University of Michigan Hillel Foundation, and Joseph Curtin Violinmaking Studios.

For IPAMAA, he provides coordination and management of administrative academic affairs and fosters positive relations with current and future IPAMAA graduate students. He creates and updates all student academic and financial records, provides information, and addresses the financial and academic policies and problems students encounter within the U-M system. He formulates all departmental finances, maintaining and planning for IPAMAA’s fiscal health.

For the Kelsey Museum, he is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and administration of excavations funded and run through the Kelsey. Additionally, he is responsible for overseeing the technological well-being of the museum, which includes acting as the contact for LSA-IT, keeping track of the museum’s entire inventory of computers (utilizing graphic-design, collection database, and geological survey programs) and electronic equipment (cameras, total stations, etc.), and maintaining technological equipment.
