According to our official mission statement, “The mission of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology is to serve the international academic community, the University of Michigan, and the public through research, conservation, and exhibition of its collections of artifacts from the ancient and medieval cultures of the greater Mediterranean region and through fieldwork. As a public resource the Museum has a corresponding commitment to sharing the knowledge gained through our fieldwork and other research with the general public of all age levels and in all walks of life.”
To maximize the usefulness of our resources but at the same time ensure that neither the ethics of archaeological collection nor the condition of our fragile objects is compromised, we adhere to the strict set of policies outlined here.
