Funding Opportunities
Funding Available through the English Department.
Thesis Grant - MFA students in Creative Writing are eligible to apply for the Thesis Grant. This competition is held twice a year, with mid-October and mid-March deadlines. Grants of up to $1500 are given to do thesis research outside of Ann Arbor. Students may receive only one award during their tenure in the program. Second year MFA students are not eligible for the March competition. Application forms are available on the department's Intranet.
MFA students should see the MFA section of our website, for further funding competition and internship opportunities. MFA students are eligible to apply through competitions for funding such as the Farrar, Busch, Tyson. All second year MFA students are eligible to receive the Zell and Meijer Post Graduate Fellowships.
Joint PhD students in English/Women’s and Gender Studies and English and Education should check with their own programs for additional funding opportunities.
