Alpha Chi Sigma (ΑΧΣ) Outstanding First Year Student Award:
This award is designated by the Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry fraternity to a first year student in chemistry who has demonstrated an interest in chemistry, shown outstanding academic potential and has exhibited a productive interaction with fellow students.

Alumni First Year Achievement Awards
The Department of Chemistry students in the first-year chemistry program who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their laboratory and lecture work. The award is based on the recommendations of instructors, graduate student instructors and undergraduate advisors

Alumni Outstanding Awards
The undergraduate awards committee established three awards in 1991.  These awards
recognize academic excellence and leadership potential of second year, third year, and senior Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biomolecular Science, Chemical Science and Interdisciplinary Chemical Sciences majors.

American Chemical Society Analytical Chemistry Award
The undergraduate advisors have established this award to recognize an outstanding chemistry major.

American Chemical Society Inorganic Chemistry Award
The undergraduate advisors have established this award to recognize an outstanding chemistry major.

American Chemical Society Organic Chemistry Award
The undergraduate advisors have established this award to recognize an outstanding chemistry major.

American Institute of Chemists Award
This award is given in recognition of potential advancement in the chemical profession on the basis of a student's demonstrated record of ability, character, and scholastic achievement.

Ash Stevens Undergraduate Research Award in Organic Chemistry
Established in 2012, this award is presented by Ash Stevens, a chemical process development company, to recognize an undergraduate doing outstanding work in the area of organic chemistry.

CRC Outstanding Achievement Award
Each year the Department of Chemistry recognizes first year chemistry students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their laboratory and lecture work and show outstanding promise as young scientists. Awards are based on the recommendations of their instructors, graduate student assistants and undergraduate advisors.

Seyhan N. Ege WISE Award
Seyhan N. Ege was one of the founders of the University of Michigan's Women in Science and Engineering Program.  Each year, the Program recognizes outstanding achievement by an undergraduate woman or student of color, signifying the participation of traditionally underrepresented groups in the chemical sciences.

Honors College Vanko Award
Named for Roger B. Vanko, an Honors College student who was tragically killed in his junior year. His parents, teachers, and friends established this memorial award to encourage outstanding young women and men in the field of Chemistry/Biochemistry.

Huron Valley Section Outstanding Student Leadership Award
Each year, the Huron Valley Section is pleased to recognize outstanding achievement in professional citizenship demonstrated by an undergraduate student.

Royal Society of Chemistry Award. (Previously Merck Award)
The Royal Society of Chemistry provides the U-M Chemistry Department with awards each year to be given to an outstanding graduating senior.

Summer Research Awards
Each year, thanks both to endowment funds and the generous donations of private and industrial sponsors, we are able to support many students for summer research. Selections are based on recommendations by the faculty, as well as their academic records.

Scholarships from the College of Literature, Arts, and Sciences for chemistry students:

Gomberg Chemistry Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement concentrating in Chemistry. This scholarship was established in 1936 by friends and old students of Professor M. Gomberg in honor of his seventieth birthday. Professor Gomberg was a Chemistry professor and researcher. In 1900, he discovered free radicals, which formed the basis for modern organic free radical chemistry.

Carlene Friedley Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students based on financial need and/or academic achievement. This scholarship was established in 1991 in memory of Alyce Carlene Friedley by her husband, Wilbur C. Bigelow. She was a University of Michigan graduate with two Chemistry degrees: B.S. (1947) and M.S. degree (1948). She was also a Lecturer in Chemistry at Michigan in the early 1950s.
