About
My research focuses on activism among communities of African descent (Afrodescendientes), Black consciousness, historical memory, and migration histories in Spain. I am interested in the discursive resources, sites, and various media utilized to (re)write narratives about blackness such as photography, theater, journalism, public forums, and festivals. This work explores the various dimensions of an evolving “Afro-Espanol” consciousness movement. I also form part of community-based organization Intersect Madrid that addresses issues of discrimination in Spanish public schools.
