Doctoral Student in Sociocultural Anthropology
About
Abdallah Sami Abulouz is a PhD candidate in Sociocutural Anthropology at the University of Michigan. His research explores the politics of home, belonging, and displacement within Palestinian diaspora communities, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the wider Gulf region. Drawing on migration and diaspora studies, affect theory, and the anthropology of the state, his work examines how citizenship regimes, legal classifications, and governance practices shape experiences of identity, exclusion, and belonging. He is also interested in the intergenerational transmission of memory, oral histories, and the affective dimensions of displacement among marginalized communities. Beyond his academic work, Abdallah has co-founded knowledge-based initiatives such as the Mureedoon team and the Anasah platform, and his writings—including articles and translations—have been published across Arab sociocultural platforms, magazines, and research centers.
