About

What is your advising philosophy? Supporting students, in all aspects that includes. Each student is different and college is more than academics. By keeping this in mind, I want to help each student develop their own pathway to success by providing the tools necessary to do so. I pride myself on keeping it real with students and not just giving them the answers they want to hear. Building rapport while also showing students how to utilize their resources to create the experience they want and deserve!

What was your path to Newnan? I'm originally a Michigander and after graduate school found myself advising in Chicago for just under 5 years. Although I loved Chicago, my position and students, I missed having a support system outside of work. After interviewing with Newnan and meeting some awesome people virtually in my interview, I accepted the position for pre-health advising and here I am! Still doing something I enjoy (advising) and back home closer to my friends and family.

Why did you join Newnan? I joined Newnan for various reasons. I met some amazing people during my interview (which happened virtually thanks to COVID. I could tell just by talking to them that they all had the same goal in mind: helping students. I also knew that by doing pre-health advising, it would be a new challenge to me professionally. I look forward to working with everyone, both faculty, staff and students.

Class you loved and why? While in undergrad, I took a course on Hip Hop Culture and really enjoyed it. It was taught by one of my favorite people on campus and allowed us to not only be taught, but be the teacher. Each of us had a group and taught on a subject in the course (mind you, this was an evening 2.5 hour course!) The course provided some insight into the culture that I did not know and provided some films and music that I still watch and listen to today.

Interests and hobbies: I love TV and finding new shows. I'm always taking recommendations so send them my way! I also enjoy listening to music, coloring and crafting.
