Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees expose students to the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences; allow for in-depth study of at least one “major” subject area, and give opportunities to explore other areas of interest.

Specific degree requirements for the A.B./B.S. degrees include:

  • First-Year Writing
  • Upper-Level Writing
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Race and Ethnicity
  • Language
  • Area Distribution
  • Major

The B.S. degree differs from the A.B. in requiring that 60 credits (out of the 120 total) must be from the physical and natural sciences or mathematics.

Bachelor in General Studies

The Bachelor in General Studies (B.G.S.) is a highly interdisciplinary degree that allows students to combine and explore multiple subjects. Students who choose to pursue a B.G.S. create a course plan that feeds their curiosity and defines the questions/issues/subjects they wish to explore.

Specific degree requirements for the B.G.S degree includes:

  • First-Year Writing
  • Upper-Level Writing
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Race and Ethnicity
  • 60 Upper-Level Credits
