Newnan Advising Administrative Assistant
About
What is your advising philosophy?
My philosophy would be that no two students are the same as well as no two students will necessarily have the same support system or even know where to begin with advising or planning out their academic journeys. And sometimes a tiny bit of support, knowledge, or even a smile and positive interaction can be the difference for them, and that to me is one of the greatest things you can provide for someone who may be on their own.
What was your path to Newnan?
I was working in the book industry after getting my degree in Criminology and after previously serving in the Marine Corps. I worked at Eastern Michigan University in the past and was looking for a new path and fresh start to develop myself and my skills in a great workplace, assisting and interacting with students and other staff at the University of Michigan.
What do you enjoy about working in Newnan?
I joined Newnan to be part of a great team, being able to help wherever I am needed; a place with work-life balance, room for professional development, and return to an academic setting.
Class you loved and why?
Criminology Senior Seminar, because we got to take all of the knowledge from the entirety of our undergraduate program and write a detailed research paper on a topic we were passionate about. I loved getting to hear about what my classmates were doing their papers on as well as really enjoying the whole research and writing process. My paper was on missing and murdered Indigenous women in North America.
Interests and hobbies:
My interests and hobbies are reading, running/exercising, spending time with family, and following different sports teams.
