About
What's your goal when working with students?
Making sure they feel comfortable and gaining their trust. I always want to be a safe person for them to trust with both academic and personal concerns.
What's an opportunity you took in college that you're glad you didn't miss?
Going to office hours. I was always too shy until I had to and I realized how valuable working with my professors to discuss my individual challenges is as a resource.
What's one challenge you experienced in college, and what advice would you give a student facing a similar one now?
My biggest advice is that if you need help, please reach out to advising if you don't know what to do. Advisors know what resources exist on campus to help students in a variety of challenging situations. I didn't go to advising in undergrad and that was a massive mistake on my part and had I gone to advising, I would've faced less challenges.
What are some places you've lived or traveled to? How have those places influenced who you are or how you see the world today?
I've lived mostly in the Gulf South and Southeastern US and that impacts a lot of how I see the world around me. I think the South is a pretty good barometer for how things have changed or not changed societally. It has also informed a lot of my graduate studies as well.
