Protostars in space and time: JWST, ALMA and time domain studies of protostellar evolution
Dr. Tom Megeath
It is in the protostellar phase that a star’s mass is assembled, disks are formed, and planet formation begins. Using imaging and IFU data of protostars from the IPA and HEFE large programs on JWST, and time domain data with Spitzer and WISE, I will discuss the complex, time dependent flows of mass, momentum, and energy within a few 1000 au. These flows ultimately shape the IMF and set the stage for planet formation. A focus will be placed on the role of feedback, and the time dependent connections between infall and accretion.
