Research Peer Advisor
About
Hello everyone!! My name is James, and I'm a junior working on my dual degrees in Honors Economics and Mathematical Sciences. I've had a wide variety of research and internship experiences, both here at UMich and outside. Some of my favorite projects have been my REU project modeling tropical diseases using ODEs and cost-optimizing prevention plans, a project with a former UMich Economics PhD student on how individual morality predicts country-level taxation patterns, and my ongoing research at the Institute of Social Research on post-Great Recession government lending. I am also a big basketball fan and really like cooking (I make a mean chili).
As a peer advisor, I'm a really good fit for people looking for both internships and research experiences, particularly in the social sciences. I realize that many undergrads might not have a defined research niche or career trajectory yet, and that's okay! My goal is to guide my mentees through this process over the course of a longer-term advising relationship. I'm excited to meet you all!
