Leland Stowe Lecture Series

Celebrating the best in journalism.

The Leland Stowe Lecture Series aims to honor the legacy of Professor Leland Stowe, one of America's most well-known foreign correspondents for his World War II coverage and Pulitzer Prize winner. Joining the journalism department at the University of Michigan in 1956, Leland Stowe taught courses focusing on the flow of international news, reporting foreign affairs, and world affairs. Stowe retired from the University of Michigan in 1969 and became an Emeritus Professor. He passed away in 1994.

Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Leland Stowe was a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune, The Chicago Daily News, ABC radio, and the New York Post syndicate. He published his first book Nazi Germany Means War in 1933.
