The Sociology and Social Work submajor seeks to offer students a substantive and cohesive curriculum relating to issues at the intersection of sociology and social work, including the study of social and economic inequality, the amelioration of unmet human needs, and the empowerment of individuals and communities. The submajor will prepare students to enter the MSW program at the University of Michigan's School of Social Work: Sociology majors in the Sociology & Social Work submajor have the option of applying for admission to U-M’s MSW program in their junior year to start taking MSW courses during senior year.
Students have the option of adding a submajor in Sociology and Social Work to their Sociology major.
