The Philosophy department Robin Zheng (RZP) Prize is awarded annually to graduate students in recognition of outstanding efforts to support and sustain a welcoming academic community, to broaden the reach of philosophical inquiry, and to improve the practices of professional philosophy. Inspired by Robin Zheng’s own contributions, this award recognizes students whose achievements — in scholarship, teaching, or service — realize the transformative potential of philosophical work. RZP Prize awardees receive a cash prize of $1,000.
The RZP Prize is intended for advanced graduate students (students in their fifth year and above), as it will recognize students for extended efforts in supporting our mission over the course of their graduate career, whether through scholarship, teaching, or professional service. In order to be eligible for the prize, students must submit a statement. After receiving statements from students, the Graduate Studies Committee will solicit comments in support of these students from tenure-stream faculty who serve on the Department’s Executive Committee. The Graduate Studies Committee will then reach a collective decision about the recipient(s) of the prize.
