Michigan's doctoral program in philosophy consistently places among the top five programs in national rankings and is renowned for its diversity and successful career placements for students. The department offers broad and intensive training in nearly all major branches of contemporary philosophy. In addition, through various gift and departmental funds students receive a wide range of support, including travel, event, and professional funds that afford many networking opportunities with other leading philosophers. The Philosophy Department's graduate program focuses on the Ph.D. degree, but does administer a master’s program intended primarily for students who are pursuing advanced degrees in other academic programs at Michigan.
