Michigan Philosophy News, published each fall since 1986, is mailed to alumni and other friends of the Department. Each issue contains a letter from the Chair reviewing the year's activities, a substantive philosophical article written expressly for the newsletter by a current member of the faculty, and a list of donors during the previous academic year.
The Department benefits enormously from the generosity of University graduates, their parents, and other friends of Michigan Philosophy. Annual giving funds the entire acquisitions program for the Tanner Philosophical Library, a departmental gem and a focal point for the philosophical community in Ann Arbor. We take great pride in the Department's distinctive endowments, which enable us to sustain undergraduate and graduate programs on a par with the finest private institutions.
If you are in the area, please consider attending Michigan's annual Tanner Lecture on Human Values and Tanner Lecture Symposium, interdisciplinary programs intended for a wide academic audience, as well as other Departmental events.
