The Department has several prizes which it awards to graduate students for outstanding achievement:
- The Cornwell Prize for general excellence
- The Dewey Prize for excellence in teaching
- The Stevenson Prize for excellence in a dossier
- The Weinberg Summer Fellowship for achievement in the second year of study
- The Marshall M. Weinberg Dissertation Fellowship for achievement in their first five years of study
- The SPLICE Prize for leadership in co-curricular enrichment
The Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies also distributes its own awards.
