SPLICE

In recogition of the high importance that the University of Michigan Department of Philosophy places on its community value, the Special Prize for Leadership in Co-Curricular Enrichment (SPLICE) was established in the 2018–19 academic year. This award recognizes graduate students who have made outstanding contributions to cocurricular efforts—COMPASS, graduate student-initiated and organized conferences, departmental reading/working groups, RIWs, community engagment—that benefit our department, our institution, our community, and our discipline. SPLICE awardees receive a cash prize of up to $2500.

Students nominate themselves for the award in the fall through either the completion of the "service" section of their candidacy worksheet or submitting their list of efforts to the Graduate Coordinator. The Graduate Studies Committee will select the SPLICE winners during the winter term if they feel that there are outstanding contributions to be rewarded.
