Growing up, you likely had a favorite toy or game you liked to play. But what games did children play in the ancient world? What types of toys did they have? Did childhood around the ancient Mediterranean look anything like our childhoods today?

Our upcoming Family Day delves into these questions and more! “Children and Play in the Ancient World” takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Explore what it was like to grow up in the ancient Mediterranean, create a yarn bracelet, and discover the kinds of toys children played with in the past—and make your own!

The Kelsey Museum and Family Day are free and open to the public. Don’t miss out on this engaging, hands-on event!
