The Kelsey Museum invites you to visit our new special exhibition, Graffiti as Devotion along the Nile: El-Kurru, Sudan. This exhibition presents a group of devotional graffiti found in 2015 by a Kelsey Museum archaeological project at the site of El-Kurru, located on the Nile River in northern Sudan.

An opening lecture by exhibition co-curators Geoff Emberling and Suzanne Davis will take place on Thursday, September 5. On Friday, September 20, a half-day symposium entitled "Graffiti in Ancient Nubia and Beyond" will feature nine international scholars who will discuss graffiti in ancient and medieval Nubia and the broader Mediterranean region.
