We’re hiring! The Kelsey seeks an innovative, inspired educator to shape the vision and strategic trajectory of the museum’s academic and public programming. The director of education will lead intentional programming that supports academic curricula; fosters access, inclusivity, and cultural understanding; and encourages the dynamic exploration of archaeology and the ancient world among diverse campus and community audiences.
As one of the touchstones of the Kelsey’s museum-classroom connection, the director of education will harness their expertise in object-based learning to engage U-M faculty to utilize the museum’s rich collection of Mediterranean, North African, and Middle Eastern artifacts for research and teaching purposes. This full-time position will also help oversee the museum’s docent guild, supervise the implementation of the DiSKO (Digital Study of Kelsey Objects) project, and guide virtual programming, among other initiatives.
