Step into the ancient Roman world at the Kelsey Museum's biannual Family Day, “The Ides of March”! This free, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Many people today recognize the Ides of March as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated at a meeting of the Roman Senate. But even before that fateful event, the Ides of March was a significant day for religious holidays and ceremonies in ancient Rome. This Family Day will offer an engaging look at this culture and history through hands-on activities.

Attendees can watch dramatic performances in the galleries, learn about the Roman calendar and timekeeping, and assemble a good-luck charm to keep their foes at bay. Young detectives can embark on an interactive scavenger hunt through the museum, while aspiring actors can design their own theater mask to bring Caesar’s story to life.
