Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology prioritizes Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in carrying out its mission to advance understanding and appreciation of the ancient Mediterranean world.

Our DEIAS Statement was developed collaboratively with the help of Kelsey staff, faculty, and students. Those individuals not only evaluated the current state of DEIA at the museum—acknowledging the colonialism and racism that have shaped the field of archaeology—but also developed a series of commitments and initiatives that will be woven into the future work of the Kelsey through our exhibitions, fieldwork, education and outreach, collections access, and other avenues.

The Kelsey Museum’s DEIAS Statement, which has been endorsed by the LSA DEI Office, is intended to be a living, adaptable document that will be updated in light of the museum’s continually evolving goals, priorities, and accomplishments.
