About
Tyler Whitney's research and teaching focuses on the intersection of sound and media studies, German literature and cultural history from the late nineteenth century to the present. His first book, Eardrums: Literary Modernism as Sonic Wafare (Northwestern UP, 2019) examines the coevolution of modernist literary forms and the increasingly weaponized soundscapes of acoustical modernity. It was shortlisted for the Waterloo Center for German Studies Book Prize in 2020. He has published articles on related topics in journals such as German Studies Review, Germanic Review and Colloquia Germanica.
