Dobkowski’s Arctic research featured by LSA
Now you can see for yourself just how long the days at Toolik Field Station in northeast Alaska can be. View a time-lapse video of an Arctic Circle “sunset,” on LSA Today, watch a wolverine frolic, and see a photo of a caribou and wolverine hanging out.
EEB master’s student Jason Dobkowski and his colleagues have been researching how sunlight affects the chemistry of organic matter in Arctic lakes. His advisor is Professor George Kling. “What we’ve shown in this paper is that sunlight plays a very important role in how much CO2 will be released as the Arctic continues to thaw, which is something that hasn’t really been looked at before,” Dobkowski said. His video and photography talents are being showcased on the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts’ website, with corresponding coverage on LSA's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
