About
Gregory A. Laurence, PhD in Management, is a Professor of Management, and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, at the School of Management, University of Michigan, Flint. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational behavior, negotiation and conflict resolution, and human resource management. His research interests revolve around ownership of space and responsibility at work, and include workaholism, job crafting, and workspace personalization and how these and other topics intersect with the experience of stress and overload at work. He is a member of the Academy of Management, the Asia Academy of Management, and the Academy of International Business. Dr. Laurence did his graduate work at Syracuse University, earning his Ph.D. in Management (2010) and MBA (2003) from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management and his MA in International Relations (2004) from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. His undergraduate degree in history is from Ohio University (1992). Prior to beginning his Ph.D., Dr. Laurence worked as Membership Manager for the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and as a business development manager for PADECO, Co., Ltd., a development consultancy based in Tokyo, Japan. He began his professional career as a teacher of English as a Second Language at Meitoku Gijuku Jr. and Sr. High School and AEON Corp., Ltd. in Japan. Since 2010, he has served on the Board of Trustees of the not-for-profit Lake Erie International Model United Nations Corporation and on the Board of Visitors of his undergraduate alma mater, Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College
