I examine Argentine militant poetry of the 1960s and 70s alongside traditions of Persian militant poetics deployed as tools of anticolonial resistance. My current research places modern revolutionary Iranian poets in poetic-political dialogue with their contemporaries in Argentina, exposing previously unexplored shared ground for South-South anticolonial solidarity between these two otherwise disparate world regions. In my article—“TOWARD A THIRD POETRY: Notes on Juan Gelman’s Counterpoetry of Liberation and Anticolonial Resistance”—for a special issue on decolonization and literature of the Global South with the academic journal, LIT: Literature Interpretation Theory, I advance my own theoretical category of militant poetics, which I term “Third Poetry,” to provide a transnational framework for analyzing and comparing the frequently overlooked encounters between distinct anticolonial poetic traditions. As a translator, I have published English translations of selected poems and a preface from Juan Gelman’s book, Dibaxu, in the literary translation journal, Absinthe: World Literature in Translation (January 2024). My bilingual, book-length translation of Juan Gelman’s Notas, with Silvia Tandeciarz, is forthcoming with the87press (June 2026).
