Learning knows no season. That's why many LSA students choose to continue their studies over the Spring and Summer terms. If you're considering taking on-campus courses or enrolling in an off-campus LSA experiential program, our scholarships can help make your Spring and Summer into a life enriching experience!

What does the scholarship cover?

The Spring/Summer Scholarship helps to cover the cost of attendance for UM Ann Arbor on-campus or virtual courses. These scholarships can also be used toward select LSA off-campus, experiential programs including Semester in Detroit (SiD), New England Literature Program (NELP), Biological Station (BS), Camp Davis (CD), and Kitt Peak. It does not cover study abroad or internships, nor does it supplement scholarships for those experiences.

If you’re participating in an LSA study abroad or internship, apply for their specific scholarships. If you plan to combine multiple Spring/Summer experiences (such as on-campus courses and study abroad), schedule an appointment with one of our scholarship advisors to find the best funding options.

Amounts and Duration

The Spring/Summer Scholarship award amounts vary and are determined by a student’s calculated Cost of Attendance and financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. These awards are non-renewable, but you can reapply for them each year.

Application Timeline

The application for Spring/Summer is now closed. Applications were accepted from January 1st through 11:59 pm EST. March 24, 2026.

We send reminder emails to candidates who have an application in draft mode prior to the scholarship deadline; therefore, late applications are not accepted.

Applications will be reviewed once the Office of Financial Aid has packaged students for the Spring/Summer 2026 term.

Applicants will receive award notifications mid-April. Funds are added to student accounts prior to the beginning of the term of enrollment (Spring or Summer).

The application for Spring/Summer re-opens on January 1, 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to take all 6 credits in one term, or can I split them between spring and summer?

You can split your credits between the spring and summer terms, or take all 6 credits in just one. As long as you have a total of 6 credits, you’re eligible for the scholarship.

When will my Spring/Summer Scholarship be disbursed?

The timing of your scholarship disbursement depends on which term you’re enrolled in. Awards follow the Office of Financial Aid’s schedule and are typically released the week before the start of each term.

Your scholarship will first be applied to your tuition and fees. If any funds remain after this, they will be issued to you as a refund in accordance with the standard Office of Financial Aid disbursement timeline.

Students are encouraged to set up direct deposit for timely access to their scholarship refund.

Can I receive a Spring Summer Scholarship and an LSA Study Abroad or LSA Internship Scholarship?

Students considering multiple spring/summer experiences should contact us or make an appointment with our office to discuss options. There are many factors in UM funding for multiple spring/summer experiences.
