Reproductive Clinical Psychologist
About
Current company: Natal Counseling
Position title: Owner and Reproductive Clinical Psychologist
What was your first step after undergraduate graduation & how did it impact your career path?
Completing the ADP program at Michigan deeply impacted my career path because it allowed me to enter graduate school to obtain my PhD with confidence. In the ADP program, I took courses with the first-year clinical psychology PhD students. When I started my own PhD program, I was already adjusted to the nature of the work and this allowed me to succeed and know what I wanted to get out of the program.
What are you doing today?
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and business owner in private practice at Natal Counseling based out of Miami, Florida and serving people in Florida and Michigan. Natal Counseling specializes in providing therapy for people who are facing the stress of fertility preservation, infertility, perinatal mood disorders, parenting, and relationships in postpartum. I deeply enjoy this work and it is an honor that I get to do it!
How do you use your psychology undergraduate experience in your work?
As a clinical psychologist, I use my psychology degree nearly every day. With my clients, I am constantly referencing various concepts I learned throughout my psychology studies.
What inspired you to enter that field/job/profession? What excites you most about the future of your profession?
Being a clinical psychologist and business owner has allowed me to connect with the artistic side of providing therapy while also getting to stay connected to the science base and evidence. It affords me the best of both worlds! As a reproductive psychologist, I am most excited about the increasing awareness to reproductive and perinatal mental health as well as women's mental health broadly.
