Rachel Smith is a Black feminist scholar studying Black women in contemporary literature and popular culture. She focuses on music videos as a space of Black feminist theory that is in conversation with other literary and popular representations of Black women. She is particularly interested in artists like Jamila Woods, Nitty Scott, Ntozake Shange, and Beyoncé. Rachel is from Minneapolis, MN, and she completed her Master's degree in English at Purdue University in Lafayette, IN.
