“Women’s and Gender Studies is a rich and diverse department, a place where deep learning takes place. Each student creates strong bonds with professors and classmates. Women’s and Gender Studies is more than a department—it is a community of learning.” —Recent Women’s and Gender Studies graduate

Are you interested in developing a feminist lens to understand the world around you? Curious to learn more about systems of power and oppression regarding gender, sexuality, race, class, and (dis)ability? Do you hope to put your education to work outside of the classroom to make a difference in your community? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

The Women’s and Gender Studies Department provides undergraduates with a rigorous, interdisciplinary liberal arts education grounded in feminist theory and practice. In our majors and minors, students learn research, writing, and critical thinking skills in a wide variety of courses, and gain professional experience through practicum, internships, and service projects. Students also have the opportunity to work closely with world-renowned faculty through the department’s Honors Program, and can pair their study with almost any other discipline in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.

Women’s and Gender Studies prepares students to create positive change after they graduate. Alumni pursue all forms of postgraduate study and all types of careers, and carry our tradition of scholarship and activism beyond campus and into the wider world.
