Undergraduate Programs

An undergraduate education is a crucial means of sharpening communication, analytical, research, and teamwork skills. In Women’s Studies’ major and minor programs, students develop all of these through a focused, feminist curriculum that exposes them to a wide range of topics and disciplines. While all programs are grounded in feminist theory and practice, students can tailor their studies to explore areas such as gender and health; gender in a global context; gender, culture, and representation; gender, race, and ethnicity in the United States; and LGBTQ and Sexuality Studies.

The skills and knowledge students acquire in our programs are among those employers value most, and alumni work in everything from public health to business to social work to law. Alumni carry Women's Studies legacy of activism beyond Michigan, and inspire positive change through their professional pursuits.

Students interested in a Women’s and Gender Studies major or minor can explore curricular requirements and opportunities on our Undergraduate Student page, and should attend one of the department's information sessions to learn more.
