About
David Caron is Professor of French and Women’s and Gender Studies. His new book, titled The Nearness of Others: In Search for Tact and Contact in the Age of HIV, is a personal account of living with HIV and dealing, among many other things, with the issue of disclosure. Probing our cultural fear of contact eventually leads to a profound reassessment of tact as a way to live and a way to think, with our bodies and with the bodies of others. Current projects, long and short, include reflections on the epistemic possibilities that HIV may allow and an essay on contemporary queer cinema in a global context.
