UMMZ Spotlight: Cody Thompson Receives Award for Outstanding Service to the American Society of Mammalogists
Cody Thompson, Mammal Collection Manager and Associate Research Scientist at the U-M Museum of Zoology (UMMZ), received the Hartley H. T. Jackson Award for outstanding service to the American Society of Mammalogists at the society’s 2026 annual meeting.
“The American Society of Mammalogists has been my primary professional society for over 20 years, and I am absolutely honored to be chosen by my colleagues for the Hartley H. T. Jackson Award for service to the society,” said Thompson.
Established in 1919, the American Society of Mammalogists promotes the scientific study and understanding of mammals around the world. With around 2,500 members, the Society supports research, conservation, education, and the diversification of the field through publications, grants and fellowships, annual meetings, and outreach.
Thompson and other UMMZ mammalogists attended the 2026 annual meeting, which brought together researchers and students from across the field to share research and strengthen collaborations.
