The University of Michigan Museum of Zoology Insect Collection (UMMZI) endeavors to document Earth’s incredibly diverse world of insects. We actively conduct research, grow the collection, and facilitate entomological research of scientists from our own and other institutions with the goal of discovery and understanding of the organisms that live around us. The University of Michigan Museum of Zoology Insect Collection currently houses approximately 4.5 million prepared insect specimens from around the world as well as hundreds of historical field notebooks and audio recordings related to specimens in the collection.
