Whether you are working on a short article or a book-length dissertation, you may find that organization is the most daunting aspect of your writing process. Indeed, so much of what we term ""writer's block"" is not about a lack of ideas or research, but about feeling overwhelmed and directionless. This workshop will provide practical strategies for organizing your writing, including exploring purposeful planning tools such as work plans and calendars; considering how to choose an organizational pattern for your project best suited to your goals or discipline; and reflecting on structure after your first draft with reverse outlines and revision checklists. As much as possible, the workshop will be tailored to the specific needs and questions of participants, as we will learn from one another's approaches, successes, and challenges. Presented by Sweetland Center for Writing faculty member Carol Tell.
