Classroom Visits

We can visit your class in person or virtually for a brief informational session about our writing support services available to students.

Pedagogical Consultations

Faculty teaching writing, or thinking about it, can meet with us to discuss writing pedagogy.

Custom Workshops

We can tailor workshops for faculty and GSIs to meet any specific classroom needs.

Student Resources

Writing Workshop

In our Writing Workshop, undergraduate and graduate students can schedule a 30- or 60-minute in-person or online appointment with Sweetland faculty to discuss course-related writing projects.

Peer Writing Centers

At our Peer Writing Centers, undergraduate students can schedule a 45-minute in-person or online appointment with a Sweetland-trained, undergraduate peer writing consultant to discuss any kind of writing, course-related or personal. We also offer Asynchronous Written Feedback that allows students to upload their writing and receive written feedback via email.

Writing Guides

Our Writing Guides cover frequent questions writers at U-M face. We also have popular handouts used in our Peer Writing Centers available for download.

About Required Attendance

As you encourage your students to use our services, we ask you not to require their attendance or offer credit for it. We find that students who come to us of their own accord are more motivated to benefit from the session, and leave with a more productive attitude toward their writing and our services. It is our policy not to provide "proof" of attendance. If you have any questions about this policy, contact Sweetland's Director, Simone Sessolo (sessolo@umich.edu).
