Sweetland Faculty T Hetzel and Naomi Silver are awarded the Teaching Professor title
We wish to congratulate T Hetzel and Naomi Silver for being awarded the title of Teaching Professor. Effective September 1, 2022, Lecturers who have reached the first Continuing Review in their appointment can elect to be considered for the title of Teaching Professor. In order to be considered, faculty members must present a portfolio containing detailed explanation and examples of their teaching excellence, and the Provost has final approval of the applications. T and Naomi are the first faculty members in Sweetland to receive the title, and indeed among all lecturers at U-M. They presented phenomenal portfolios, and we are very happy that the University acknowledged their quality and dedication with this renowned title!
Sweetland Faculty Naomi Silver honored for outstanding contributions to undergraduate education
It’s a joy to report that Naomi Silver has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Individual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education. Naomi’s former students speak of experiencing her classes as “relevant and insightful,” and Naomi as caring, dedicated, capable of facilitating “meaningful, approachable discussion,” welcoming, patient, constantly going above and beyond for students and being open to their thoughts and feedback. We offer our congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
