APPLIED PHYSICS I Safety Awareness, Personal Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Active Shooter Response

Retired Police Officer and DPSS Community Engagement team member Candace Dorsey will present an informative and practical seminar on active shooter preparedness. The session will focus on recognizing potential threats, understanding how to respond during an active shooter incident, protecting oneself, and supporting others while minimizing additional risk.

Officer Dorsey brings more than 31 years of law enforcement experience with the Detroit Police Department, Eastern Michigan University Police Department, and the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS). Throughout her distinguished career, she has served in a variety of roles, including police officer, crime prevention coordinator, active attacker instructor, Special Victims Unit liaison, and the University of Michigan's first Empowerment Self-Defense lead within DPSS.

Drawing on her extensive professional experience and expertise, Officer Dorsey will share current, practical strategies to help participants make informed decisions, respond effectively, and increase their chances of staying safe during an active shooter emergency.
