Visiting Scholar status is granted by application to the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, with the approval of the Department. Please consult the University's academic calendar before applying.
Visiting Scholars in Philosophy are entitled to University Library privileges, and access to electronic mail and other computer services. Visiting Scholars are provided a mailbox and access to the Department's Tanner Philosophy Library.
The Department does not provide financial support or office space (though there is work space in the Tanner Library). We also do not provide health or medical insurance. For more information about health insurance please visit the International Center's Health Care and insurance site.
The process of obtaining a visa can be protracted. Visitors who require a visa are encouraged to start the process well in advance. The Department's executive secretary can facilitate this process through the University's International Center.
