About the Major
The History Major is a flexible program that allows you to meet personal interests and needs, while experiencing the enormous variety of topics offered in the department. The major's distribution requirements and personally tailored themes together offer both range and breadth. You can work with individual faculty mentors and history advisors to customize your academic program and select courses that provide coherence to your studies while allowing room for exploration. Additionally, majoring in History allows you the opportunity to engage in original research, typically through history colloquia or the Honors Program. Some majors also pursue teacher certification through the School of Education.
