Apply through Rackham's web application. Take required exams and arrange for all supporting documents to arrive by the December 1 deadline. Please note this is a firm deadline. Most of the documents are uploaded to the online application. After the application is submitted, you will receive an email confirmation from Rackham Graduate School.
December 2 - January 8
Applications are being processed and prepared for review by U-M History faculty. Applicants are encouraged to consult Wolverine Access to verify submitted data, update contact information, and check on receipt of transcripts by Rackham.
December 25 - January 1
The U-M History Office is closed for holidays.
January 2 - February 20
Faculty members and admission committees review applications.
February 21-March 1
Applicants are sent an email notification with the department's admission decision. Admitted students will be invited for a visit weekend to meet prospective advisors and current graduate students and learn more about what U-M and the Department can offer prospective students. The visit weekend typically takes place the 2nd or 3rd weekend of March.
April 15
No later than 3:00 PM on April 15, applicants who have been accepted for admission must notify the History Department and Rackham Graduate School of their decision (via the online system in Wolverine Access).
