German 102/103

The German 102/103 Rollenspielwettbewerb was a lot of fun. There was lots of good German, creative ideas, and laughter. Congratulations to all nominated groups!  

The winners of the $200 first prize are Josh Lank, Mikehl Hafner, and Jacob Sturgis from Catherine Marquardt's German 102.002 section for "Aschenmerkel."

The second-place winners are Mallory Hoevet, Christine Benson, Mengxi Bai, Will Wright, and Jin Nakamura from Catherine Marquardt's German 102.001 section for "Freunde oder Feinde."

The third-place winners are Aaron Chappel, Nicholas Jividen, and Nicholas Volpe from Britta Keeer's German 103.002 section for "Ein Vorstellungsgespräch."

German 232

Congratulations to all of the nominees on the excellence of their essays nominated for this semester's Kothe-Hildner prize competition for the best essay in German 232. It was a great set of essays, and a pleasure to read!

The winner of the $125 first prize is Andrew Cooper from Silvia Grzeskowiak's course on News and Media in the German-Speaking World, for "Gestohlen: Der tote Soldat."

There was a tie for second place, and so we are combining the second and third prize amounts ($50 and $25) in order to split them between the two second prize winners, so each person will receive $37.50. The two second prize winners are: Sarah Piper from Mary Gell's course "Germany Rocks," for "Beatles Briefe" and Emily Young from Silvia Grzeskowiak's course on News and Media in the German-Speaking World, for "Gestohlen: Tibetischer Bucheinband."
