GERMAN FILM INSTITUTE <br>The Cinema of Crisis: German Film 1928-1936

Directed by Karl Ritter. Written by H. Herzlieb, H. Wanger and Leonhard Fürst. With Lida Baarova, Willy Birgel and Irene von Meyendorff.

Featuring documentary footage of the German tank corps and air force in action, this film tells the story of foreign agents in Germany and their allies among the German population. Having placed an ad in the local paper looking for contacts within German industry, enemy agents Morris and Geyer end up meeting a desperate engineer named Fritz Brockau who has just what the agents have been looking for. At the same time, the agents blackmail Hans Klemm, a former bank manager now serving in the German army, to work for them. Klemm, however, soon figures out their plot and tries to thwart the spies from doing more damage.
